The composer Khorkova lives and works in Stuttgart and Moscow. After her piano studies at Gnessin-Institute Moscow she earned a doctorate in composition and music theory at Tschaikowski Conservatoire Moscow. Furthermore she graduated in composition with professor Caspar Johannes Walter at the “Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst” in Stuttgart.

Khorkova attended master classes with renowned composers such as Vladimir Tarnopolsky, Rodion Schtschedrin, Frédéric Durieux, Martijn Padding, Roland Moser, Beat Furrer, Brice Pauset, Toshio Hosokawa, Rebecca Saunders, Georg Friederich Haas and Peter Ablinger.
Marina Khorkova was awarded composer prizes from the Jessenin Competition Russia, from Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and from DAAD. She was the recipient of numerous fellowships from Russian Federation Moscow, Paul Sacher Foundation Basel, DAAD, Oscar & Vera Ritter-Foundation Hamburg or Lieselotte-Klein-Foundation.

Within the framework of national as well as international festivals her works have been performed for instance at „Quinte et Plus“ Paris, Fall in Moscow and IMPULS Graz.
