The Villa Aurora organ will sound again! Resonate with us and restore an organ pipe.

The 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF VILLA AURORA in December 2010 will be musically accompanied by a return visit by Spectrum Concerts Berlin. The program will consist of works for solo organ, ensemble works with organ and other
chamber music pieces primarily written by émigré composers. Musicians such as Hanns Eisler, Ernst Toch and Bruno Walter have played this organ as well as Marta Feuchtwanger herself.

Villa Aurora was built in 1927/28 as a Los Angeles Times demonstration home by architect Mark Daniels. The organ was a feature of the house’s original design, with its manuals and pneumatic percussion effects built in the living room’s east chamber and its pipes into its west chamber.

Villa Aurora’s organ is comparable to those built for the theatres and cinemas of its time, providing a wide range of registers and timbres, which gave performers nearly unlimited musical powers.

The organ at Villa Aurora was constructed in 1928/29 by the Artcraft Organ Company of Santa Monica, California. It makes use of eight rows of pipes, from which 34 registers can be engaged simultaneously.
