Thanks to our members, Villa Aurora fellows receive a more complete experience by enabling our fellows to immerse themselves in their work and LA's cultural scene. As a member, you have the opportunity to attend Villa events either free-of-charge or at a discounted prize, and you enjoy opportunities to meet both our fellows and visiting artists. Programs include welcoming receptions, discussions, lectures, performances, screenings and symposia. If you'd like to become a member, please fill out the membership form below and send it to:

Friends of Villa Aurora Inc.

The "Friends of Villa Aurora Inc." was founded in Los Angeles and has an advisory board made up of leading figures in culture and society. Under the leadership of the chairperson, lawyer Lothar Poll, and his successor, journalist Marianne Heuwagen, the association bought the villa in 1990 from USC, which had inherited the Feuchtwanger estate. Funding help came from the German lottery foundation and the foreign office. The house was then restored to its original state under the leadership of architect Frank Dimster. Funds for the purchase, a large part of the restoration work and start-up costs were provided by the German lottery foundation and the Berlin state government. The foreign office also contributed money for the restoration. The Villa Aurora program is currently funded by the German foreign office (AA) and the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM). We are nonetheless dependent on private sponsors and donations to continue our artists' grant program and the full range of our other activities. We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Become a member in Berlin

By becoming a member of the Friends of Villa Aurora, you can take an active role in developing and shaping German-American cultural exchange. Becoming a member means you can take part in general meetings and receive invitations to all our events in Berlin as well as regular updates about our programs and the activities of our artists. The minimum contribution to become a member is €50. We are a non-profit organization and membership fees are tax deductible.
